Intelligence Specialist (IS)U.S. Navy Rating B600
Intelligence Specialist (IS)U.S. Navy Rating B600Intelligence Specialist (IS)- U.S. Navy Rating B600Military information, particularly classified information about threats or potential enemies, is called intelligence. As in other branches of the military, Navy Intelligence Specialists analyze intelligence data, interpreting and breaking down information to determine its usefulness in military planning. From this intelligence data, they prepare materials that affect strategic and tactical areas all over the world. This rating (which is what the Navy calls its jobs) has the Navy Occupational Specialty (NOS) number B600. It was established in 1957 and called the Photographic Intelligenceman rating. The title was changed to Intelligence Specialist in 1975 since there is much more involved in intelligence than photographs, and not everyone in the rating is a man. Duties Performed by Navy Intelligence Specialists In addition to analyzing intelligence data, Intelligence Specialists prep are and present intelligence briefings, prepare materials for reconnaissance missions, use maps and charts to produce imagery data, provide input and receive data from computerized intelligence systems ashore and afloat, and maintain intelligence databases, libraries, and files. Working Environment for Intelligence Specialists Intelligence specialists perform most of their duties in an office or watch environment. They usually work closely with others, doing mostly analytical work, but must have the capability to work without supervision and to support the intelligence mission of the Navy on land, undersea, at sea, and in the air. Intelligence Specialists serve aboard ships, in aircraft squadrons, and at various intelligence production centers located in the United States and overseas. 6 Illegal Reasons to Fire Someone
6 Illegal Reasons to Fire Someone6 Illegal Reasons to Fire SomeoneAlmost all employment in the United States is at-will. (Montana is the only state that doesnt have at-will employment as a default. Unions or a contractual obligation for a particular position are the other exceptions.) That means you can fire someone for any reason or no reason as long as that reason isnt prohibited by law. So, technically, you can walk up to an employee and say, Ive decided to fire you. No reason, and its legal. Or, Your shirt has vertical stripes, and I prefer horizontal stripes, youre fired. But, that doesnt mean that every employment termination is legal. In fact, there are numerous reasons why you canleid fire an employee. The first group of illegal termination reasons is covered by Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. Race Is an Illegal Reason to Fire Someone You can, of course, fire someone of any race, just not for a reason because of their race. This is true for all races- you cant fire a w hite person to make a place for a person of color any more than you can fire a person of color because you prefer to hire white people. Along with race come ethnicity and national origin. In the US, you are not required to hire a person who needs company sponsorship for a visa. But, if the person is already authorized to work or is a US citizen, you cant discriminate on the basis of their national origin or ethnicity. Sex Is an Illegal Reason to Fire Someone Its illegal to fire someone for being a male or female. Federal law is clear that you cannot discriminate on this basis. A question that hasnt been wholly settled is discrimination against transgendered employees. The EEOC settled a lawsuit on behalf of a transgender individual, and the courts tend to be leaning this way. So, most likely youll find yourself in court if you fire someone for being transgender. Likewise, the courts have been clear that homosexuality is protected as well. Employers need to err on the side of kin dness and communicate that - no matter the circumstance of the firing - the termination was in no way related to gender identity, sexual identity, and so on. And a good rule of thumb dont terminate someone for their sex or their sexual identity. Period. Religion Is an Illegal Reason to Fire Someone Whether a person is an evangelical Christian, Muslim, or an Atheist, their religious beliefs (or the lack thereof) are protected. Exceptions exist. For example, if you are a temple- if your Jewish Rabbi converts to Christianity, you can fire him, but in your for-profit business, forget it. Religion is protected. And like disabilities, you may be required to make some accommodations as long as they dont create an undue hardship. If a Muslim employee doesnt want to handle alcohol, for example, and the only time the situation comes up is once a year at the company holiday party, you can reasonably accommodate the persons wishes. If, however, a Muslim employee doesnt want to handle alcoho l and your business is a bar, it would probably be reasonable to fire him. Disability Is an Illegal Reason to Fire Someone The Americans with Disabilities Act prohibits firing someone because of a disability- real or perceived. You cannot terminate someone for being disabled and you have to provide reasonable accommodation for an employee with a disability. Reasonable accommodations vary from business to business and job to job. Most likely it is a reasonable accommodation for a diabetic marketing employee to keep food at her desk and eat it when needed. At the same time, it is not a reasonable accommodation for a diabetic employee who works in a manufacturing clean room to keep food in her pocket. The law doesnt explicitly define what conditions are considered disabilities, but instead says anything that involves a major life function can qualify. Age Is an Illegal Reason to Fire Someone Age is unlike the others because you can (technically) fire someone for being too young , but not for being too old, as long as that old is over 40. After 40, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) kicks in. You cant fire someone for getting old. If you are even thinking about this, remember that someday, you too will be over 40. Youll appreciate the legal protection while you have the opportunity to maintain your professional relevance. Pregnancy Is an Illegal Reason to Fire Someone Pregnant women are protected under the Pregnancy Discrimination Act. Just because a woman will need to take some time off isnt a sufficient reason to fire someone. If a woman has worked for you for 12 or more months, you have 50 or more employees, and shes worked at least 1250 hours in the past year, shes also protected by the Family Medical Leave Act, which means you need to give her up to 12 weeks of protected leave to deal with the pregnancy, birth, and bonding with the new baby. Remember, these laws protect you from firing people for these reasons but they dont protect emp loyees from employment termination for other reasons. The best practice is to terminate only after a failed performance improvement plan, for cause (such as stealing), or a layoff. Otherwise, approach any employee termination fairly and professionally and follow the law. Loan Agreement FAQ - United States
Loan Agreement FAQ - United StatesLoan Agreement FAQ - United StatesDefinitionsWho is the Borrower? The Borrower is the person or corporation that receives value (money, property or some service) from the Lender on the condition that the Borrower will pay the principal amount plus any interest to the Lender at sometime in the future. Who is the Lender? The Lender is the person or corporation that gives something of value (money, property or some service) to the Borrower on condition that the Lender will be paid a certain amount in the future. What is the governing law for a Loan Agreement? The governing law is the law of the jurisdiction in which the Loan Agreement will be entered into. Often the parties select the jurisdiction where the Lender resides. If the Loan Agreement relates to the purchase of certain assets, then the location of those assets is selected. What is the Principal amount? The principal is the original amount of the loan that is owed by the Borrower to the Lender on t he date the Loan Agreement is signed. Once the Borrower has begun to pay back the loan, the principal refers to the amount of money still owing to the Lender at any given moment in time. What is interest?Interest is an amount charged to a Borrower for the use of the Lenders money. It is usually expressed as a percentage of the amount borrowed and is calculated at a specified interval over the course of the term of the Loan Agreement. The interest rate is the annual interest rate. What does compounded mean?Compounded refers to how frequently the interest is calculated and added to the principal amount of the loan to arrive at a new balance. The mora frequently the interest is calculated, the mora interest the Borrower will end up paying to the Lender. What is a demand loan agreement? The balance owing in a loan agreement does not need to be repaid until the Lender demands to be repaid. In other words, the loan is repayable on demand. There is no fixed end date for the repayment of the loan. Upon demand, the Borrower is given a certain period of time to repay the outstanding balance of the loan agreement. What is the Term? The Term is the time length of the loan agreement. At the end of the term, the Borrower must repay the outstanding balance of the loan. Loan Agreement DetailsI am a shareholder. Should I use the Loan Agreement or the Shareholder Loan Agreement? As a shareholder, if you are lending money to the corporation, use our Shareholder Loan Agreement. If you are borrowing money from the corporation, use our Loan Agreement. Use our promissory note if you prefer a more basic and simpler document than the Loan Agreement. Do I have to charge the Borrower interest? No, the Lender can choose whether or not to charge interest. If the Lender decides to charge interest, they can pick how much interest to charge. However, there may be tax consequences to the Lender or Borrower if interest is charged but it is not a reasonable rate. What are the payment options availa ble? There are four options for the method of repayment. Specific periodic amounts - the Borrower will make a certain payment to the Lender on regular intervals. Lump sum payment at the end of the term - the Borrower pays nothing to the Lender until the end of the note term, at which time the Borrower repays the entire note in one payment. Interest only - the Borrower makes regular payments to the Lender that are put toward paying off the interest on the principal amount only, with no portion of the payment going towards the principal amount itself. Interest and principal - the Borrower makes regular payments to the Lender that are put toward paying off both the principal amount and the interest as it is compounded. At the end of the term of the Loan Agreement, there will be no outstanding balance to be repaid.Should the Lender require the Borrower to provide security/collateral for the note?If you do not take collateral, and the Borrower defaults on the loan, you will have to take t he Borrower to court in order to recover your money and your judgment can only be enforced against certain assets of the Borrower. However, if you take collateral for the loan agreement, then you may be entitled to seize and sell the collateral if the Borrower fails to repay the loan. Does the collateral need to be equivalent in value to the amount of the loan? No, if collateral is given for the loan, it can be for any amount. If the Borrower fails to repay the note, and the collateral is worth less than the note, then the Lender can seize the collateral and sue the Borrower for the remaining amount of the loan. If the Lender recovers more than the outstanding balance from the sale of the collateral, any surplus amount would be returned to the Borrower or his other debtors depending upon the situation. Loan agreements and seller/vendor financingHow does Seller Financing work?Seller Financing is a loan from a seller to a purchaser where the purchaser does not have the cash to cover so me or all of the purchase price of the asset. With Seller Financing, the asset title is transferred to the purchaser who then takes a loan from the seller and grants the seller a security interest in the purchased asset. In the case of a motor vehicle, transferring title of the asset to the purchaser allows the purchaser to acquire insurance and registration. The sole purpose of the loan is to facilitate the purchase of that particular asset. The asset itself is used by the purchaser as collateral for the loan. This means that the Seller could make a claim against the asset if the purchaser should default on one or more loan payments. Also, with Seller Financing, the purchase and sale agreement should contain as much detail as possible regarding the financing particulars including the amount to be financed, the term, the rate of interest and frequency of compounding, the monthly payments, the amortization period as well as any penalties for non-payment.Signing DetailsI do not know when the Loan Agreement will be signed. Can I fill in the date later?Yes, by selecting Unsure as the date the agreement will be signed, a blank line will be inserted into the contract so that you can add the correct date after printing the document. Do I need witnesses to sign the Loan Agreement?Generally speaking, there is no requirement for a witness or notary public to witness the signing of the Loan Agreement. However, depending on the nature of the loan and the governing law of the jurisdiction in which youre entering into the loan, you may be required to have witnesses or a notary public witness the Loan Agreement. Even if it is not required, having an objective third anlass witness the signing of the loan agreement will be better evidence when you need to enforce the repayment of the loan. Signing the note in front of a notary public is the best evidence that the Borrower signed the loan agreement.

How Much to Tip Pizza Delivery Drivers
How Much to Tip Pizza Delivery DriversHow Much to Tip Pizza Delivery DriversAnyone whos ever reservierunged pizza or other food for delivery has wondered how much to tip the delivery person. While a tip istechnically not obligatory, not leaving a tip for the delivery person is rude. So, if you dont want to leave a tip, order the food for pickup instead. Delivery Fees In addition to tipping, many restaurants now add a delivery fee to your bill (usually about $3 to$10 for the entire order). Sometimes, unterstellung delivery fees are higher when food is delivered to an office building or if the order is larger than a typical delivery run. Since delivery fees rarely, if ever, go to drivers, they should not be considered part of your tip. Also, a extremum delivery fee is not the same as a tip. It refers to the tiefpunkt price of food you must order for the restaurant to deliver. The restaurant owner may pocket an upfront minimum delivery fee and isnt required to pass it along to the d river unless they do not earn enough in tips to earn at least the federal minimum wage. How Much to Tip Pizza And Other Food Delivery Drivers For delivery orders of $20or less, it is customary to offer a minimum tip of $3. For any amount over $20, tip 10 to 15 percent but never less than $5. Before opting for that $3 tip on small orders, consider whether you would make the same trip for a mere three bucks. If your driver was on time and polite, thank them with a better tip. When to Consider Tipping More Your food delivery driver is a mobile waiter, and you should not consider tipping optional.Although you can always opt to go for the recommended minimum tip, be considerate and factor in times and conditions in when a larger tip would be more appropriate. For example, increase your tip During inclement weather (hail, sleet, snow, heavy rain, etc.) or any time driver conditions are more hazardous than usualWhen the driver has to travel more than 5 miles from a store location to make the deliveryDuring peak order times such asmajor televised sporting events, when drivers must work harder and faster to get your food to you while it is still hot andIf the driver gave you outstanding service or preferential treatment. Why Tipping Food Delivery Drivers Matters Typically, food delivery drivers are paid minimum wage or lessand earn more from tips. If a drivers tips plus hourly wage does not equal federal (or if higher, state) minimum wage, the employer must make up the difference. It is why most restaurants now charge a minimum delivery fee- it safeguards the employer from having to pay the driver to make up the difference if they do not earn enough tips. In essence, the delivery fee collected from you guarantees the driver at least minimum wage without the employer having to kick in. If the driver is making minimum wage based on their hourly pay rate, plus tips, minus the current rate of reimbursement per milerequired by federal law, the employee probably d oes not get any of that delivery fee. Some drivers are paid a small commission for each deliveryto help offset the cost of gas and use of their car. They may also receive a small stipend for displaying the companys pizza delivery sign on their car. In addition to paying for their gas, insurance, and increased costs for wear and tear on their cars, delivery drivers may have to pay higher insurance premiums, carry extra coverageorpay uniform maintenance fees. In other words, being a delivery person is not lucrative, and your tips make a difference to the driver. What to Do if Delivery tafelgeschirr is Bad If the service is bad and you decide not to tip, at least call the stores manager and explain why your service was bad. The problem with the delivery may have had nothing to do with the driver but with someone else who prepared the orderor with a manager who required a driver to delivertoo many orders at once, so he was late, or the order was cold.

Feet on the Street
Feet on the StreetFeet on the StreetMarket yourself outside your box.The last few weeks have certainly been difficult for the folks on Wall Street and the companies affected by the credit freeze. If you had asked me if there was a surplus of talent in August, I would have said no. Even with todays landscape and with more feet on the street, I would still be inclined to say no. So take heart companies will always need top talent with specialized skills. You may feel that your skills are industry specific and that prospective employers could pigeonhole you. However, many experts believe that certain attributes are transferable, such as strategic thinking and problem solving skills. To quote an excerpt from Caliper, a Princeton-headquartered HR consulting firm who surveyed over 1,000 executives, Employers want to know whether applicants can solve problems and are conscientious. These attributes are demanded the fruchtwein, but the most difficult to find. The survey goes on to express that problem solving and conscientiousness were selected more than twice as often as other qualities (i.e. the ability to handle stress, being assertive, being agreeable and having good self esteem).Consider what your bosses and co-workers would say your intrinsic value is to the bottom line. Companies need to be competitive, especially in this economic environment, and they will always be open to hiring people with talent. Apply for a position even if its outside your box. As maintained by Caliper, 25% of employers frequently hire individuals without the qualities they are seeking most. Here are some tips to help you market yourself outside your boxAttend Industry EventsIts extremely important to listen to leaders in the industry speak about trends and best practices. Conferences are a terrific way to learn from these select few. Introduce yourself after their speech or panel segment is finished. Ask provocative questions that you have prepared, and increase your chances of being rememb ered. Hold on to their business cards, and follow up with an appropriate email and then a phone call. Yes, a phone call its called building a relationshipDo Your HomeworkOnce youve landed an interview, find out about the person you will be interviewing with. Know the companys business such as their competitive advantage and competitive landscape. Know the names of the founders, the history of the company and be prepared to answer why you would like to work at the company. The internet has given todays job seekers an edge. Knowing more about a company provides you the ability to ask insightful questions.Question, Question, QuestionI am consistently surprised by people being unprepared for interviews. Being armed with questions is your most basic responsibility. Would you be more inclined to listen to a person who focused expressly on themselves or the person that wants to know all about you and your successful company? Stop selling start asking questions its the best sales tool eve r Talk about the big picture, but ask for specifics into their way of thinking.Prioritize AuthenticityAt the end of the day the person sitting across the table from you is just as scared about the economy, so why not empathize and share war stories. Right now, people do not want to hear your 15-second elevator pitch and why youre the perfect fit. Its much more interesting and effective to be honest, and impart examples of your past performance. Just last week I was interviewing a candidate who gave me answers they thought I wanted to hear instead of real life examples from their own experience. If they had just provided me with one example, he would have legitimized his value proposition.Translate Your Skills into SuccessesTake time to consider your skills and how they may be applicable to other industries. Always remain clear on what your value-add is for the company. How can your track record of successes translate into an impressive ROI for a prospective future employer? Revisit accomplishments think of problems confronted, solutions developed and results achieved. Think about how those situations could be relevant for a different industry.Work Your NetworkWho you know will often help you land your next opportunity. Network, network and then network again. A positive attitude is contagious, and people enjoy helping people who have this quality. My A candidates have terrific attitudes, a good sense of self, and an awareness of their strengths.Make It PersonalYour career is individual, so show passion for the industry, position and company. When looking outside your industry, its wise to ask trusted advisors who work in the field to tell you about what constitutes success. Ask them for their story.Remember, there are a lot of feet on the street. Differentiate yourself. Be passionate, personable, and authentic by asking the right questions.
